Our founder and Chairman was a partner of one of the very first UK based executive search practices, quietly established in Regent Street, London in 1964 - Fleming Banfu International can trace it's history back to the very roots of the executive search industry. In the early 1970's he formed his own international executive search business that soon became involved in a huge range of assessment and human resource management services. The Hong Kong connection arose in 1982 and the firm derived the majority of it’s work in this region until the colony was handed back to the Chinese in 1997 - at which point the company relocated it's core business to the London office. The process of finding and acquiring senior management talent is not a function of scale, 'efficiency' or even new technology but a painstaking process of personal attention, deep knowledge of the industry concerned, and a genuine understanding for the needs of client and candidate. This must be allied to the kind of independent, authoritative advice that can only be forthcoming from experienced, senior search professionals.
Shrewd and wise managers go to niche, specialist search firms with expert senior search professionals because they have unrivalled first-hand industry knowledge and strong people networks. And quietly and discreetly they get on and fill their talent gaps. Expert consultants like this can be hard to find, but a treasure to discover.
Our company was founded in Hong Kong, and our long history there has stayed with us ever since. Our logo represents the Cantonese phrase "Tai-Pan" a term the Chinese used originally to describe the Western business dynasties that arrived in the mid 19th century and is today used generally to mean any non-Chinese businessman.
Many of the most pithy and appropriate business proverbs originate from China.
"Easy to enrol a thousand soldiers. But, ah, for just one good general!"
